빛이 되어주는 사건들은 동시대 도시 공간에서 각기 다른 모습으로 드러나는 주변의 요소들에 주목하여 추상적으로 맴도는 기억의 공간, 누적 된 시간성, 그리고 개인의 심리적 맥락들을 탐구하는 상황적 퍼포먼스이다. 예를 들어 유년시절에 보냈었던 개인의 기억공간인 오래된 아파트 단지와 방치되었던 낡은 한옥집 등. 빠른 변화의 속도감으로 인해 곧 사라지게 될 특정 공간들을 찾아 즉흥적으로 개입한 행위작업이다.


‘Luminizing Sequence’, I constructed a psychologically and perceptually imaginative project to explore the space of abstractly hovering memories, the layers of accumulated time, and the context of everyday spaces, paying attention to elements revealing different aspects of life in urban spaces at the time. I explore the traces of common memories and time in specific spaces that will soon disappear due to rapid urban growth in such places as old apartments and hanok, or traditional Korean homes, where I spent my child- hood. This project is a temporary work set up in a specific space where tactile objects are used to provoke sensuously inconvenient, awkward feelings.

I visited the obsolete Korean Traditional house at Okin-dong and was overwhelmed by the tranquil mood od the house that seemed so contradicting with its surrounding environment that was being commercialized rapidly. The empty house with no settlers was occupied by fast growing weeds. while the remnants were corroding slowly, being deserted in the flow of time. I attempted to narrate the story of an empty house by installing temporary objects conforming to the atmosphere of the space. Two antennas consisting of bells and mirrors reflect the invisible beings living in the wild garden of the house, relaying the energy og the objects. A loom deserted inside the house was embodied by the skein of threads suspended onto the mail pillar, testifying to the history and memory of the fomer remer residing family.

The Statement of Fishing the Sunlight
A Commodation made of the hologram paper and acrylic scraps was placed at niche spaces between roof tiles, holes on the wall, skylights and window-sides. This work becomes ‘the events transformed into light - Luminizing Sequence’. Such impressive poetic whispers was in full bloom owing to the camera that captured the ordinary beauty.
